Assault is the intentional application of force to another person without their consent or the threat of force to another person without their consent. Assault charges have significant consequences including fines, incarceration and a criminal record that can have travel and career implications. Those consequences can become more serious if the assault is of a domestic nature, including assaults between spouses and other family members, children included. You can be immediately forced out of your home and ordered to have no contact with the complainant and other members of your family.
